LORAIN – On November 14th, NAMI of Lorain County held their annual meeting and dinner banquet. Among the event’s activities NAMI Lorain County officially inducted three new members onto the Board of Directors.
Cindy Amos is a retired psychiatric nurse RN-BSN who served in the Airforce Nurse Corp between 1974 and 1976. Cindy and her husband of 42 years Marc, live in Carlisle Township and together raised their five children. Her hobbies are sewing and bird watching. Cindy served as secretary with Gathering Hope House for one year and currently enjoys volunteering as a Red Coats Usher at Playhouse Square and with the Board of Public Health Medical Reserve Corp. Cindy has facilitated the NAMI Connections Support Group for 4 years, serves on the LOSS Team, and is certified to teach NAMI classes.
Holly St. Cyr lives in Avon Lake with her husband Eric. They have two adult children Eric, Jr. and Anna. Holly is a past president of NAMI and contributes the organization with making her feel fulfilled and helpful in life. She is a past president of the board of directors for Friends of Avon Lake Library as well. Holly actively volunteers with the Sisters on a 12 Step Journey to Spiritual Healing through Saint Agnes Catholic Church and is working in conjunction with Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Avon Lake to complete a Holy Rosary with Meditations booklet.
Minnie Whitten is a case manager for the YWCA, serving the homeless in both Lorain and Elyria, before working for the YWCA, Whitten spent 12 years at the Nordson Corporation and 12 years working for the Lorain County Probate Court. Born in Alabama, Whitten came to Lorain County at the age of 1 with her parents and has lived in Elyria and now Lorain. She has one daughter and one son, on her free time she enjoys bowling and watching movies.
