Support Groups
NAMI of Lorain County sponsors several types of support groups designed both for caregivers and those living with mental illness.  Such groups, led by trained Facilitators, provide confidential opportunities to share personal stories, relate to others with similar experiences, learn about community resources, and offer hope and encouragement.
Call the NAMI Office at 440-233-8181 Ext. 224 for further information on particular support groups described below:

Connection Group
The NAMI Connection Recovery Support Groups are a casual and relaxed approach to sharing the challenges and successes of coping with mental illness. Each group meets bi-weekly for 90 minutes. This is for adults with mental illness, regardless of diagnosis. The group is led by trained individuals who are in recovery themselves. They understand your daily challenges and can offer you encouragement and support.

“Progress Through Action”
“Progress Though Action” is an ongoing free education support group for those who have a diagnosed mental illness and referred and/or supported by your service provider. This group is led by highly trained NAMI peer educators/facilitators. Each week a recovery topic selected by group members is taught and discussed, followed with recovery support and goal setting for the following week
